midnight 657
hi lads saw this on another thread so i thought i would give it a go.. after a failed ratting trip to some places nere me , i thought i would look to see what you guys do to bolt ratts ... better say that i invited antg and his lad for the day with there bull x pups and there good old terier on this day they traveled for hours to get there for the day and i let them down realy badly by not producing more than 8 ratts all day . for that lads im realy sory i feel like a tw@ .. any way we was hoping to move the rats with a chain saw (smoker) and by lifting bails with the tractor . this we did but little was seen or caught. that was last weekend so this week i tryed a few other spots with the smoker including my small holding with littel if not no movment of rats . now i knew they are there iv seen them and been killionng them all year .. but nothing bolted ., why is this iv use smokers before and found them ace never had any problems .. any way i saw a few other methods u guys sujested so thought i would give them a go.. i went round the hole place early yesterday with the smoker and did every hole ....... nothing ? left it a few hours and tryed the mothod i dint realy expect to work wich was .. putting petrol down the holes giving it time to evaperate and igniting it .. well fook me from the same stone walls and berrys i had smoked to death just a few hours before came swarms of ratts . i gota tell you this was fantastic fun for a piro like me anyway but the explosions you get and the underground thunmping is amasing . we had fire balls coming out the walls and berrys at diferant times and places .. any holes mised or intentionaly left made the escape routes for the rats to bolt so they can be herded to one or a few holes or directions of your choice .. i used an oily mix of 2stroke as it was what i was using up from the saw and as the fire dies down the wind pushes the smoke through the berry and also helps to bolt them . so im well pleased and will be doing it again in areas that will alow it .. dog got two of the bugger s and i had some good sky lawnching kicks to a few that must have killed them .. with the aded pleasure of the underground explosinos .. thax who ever posted this method its a new fave of mine . all the best matt
