Ok so im running low on fresh rabbit for my ferts.I also have kits due in cpl of weeks.I have never ferreted before @this time of the year,but needs warrant it.So the thing is whats the percentage of kills below ground@this time of the year?Am i goung to have to dig a lot lol

I'd love to be able to help but can't, though I'm sure one of the pro pesters like Stubby will be able to tell you, as they have to do it all year. Couldn't you shoot some with a rifle or air rifle, that's what I tend to do. I also feed some dried food, eggs, and tinned sardines in oil, even roadkill if it's fresh.

Yea i feed em dried and stuff but im currently getting rid some rabbits of my permission using snares but just thought ferreting be quicker.Dont have a rifle.

cant say we get more digs, but we do get less bolts, would have thought you'd be better off, uping the snaring

If you have got good working ferrets who now there job i agree with stubby no more digging involved to be honest i very rarley dig they are just more prone to stay then bolt but will bolt in the end if you have a good ferret. A lot of places no chance of purse netting due to under growth and nettles so i use long nets with dog. I also this time of year prefer to use my albino rather then the polecat as its murder trying to see polecat in the under growth if your doing hedge bottoms thats just my opinion cheers Dowen.

go to local butcher ask for chicken jiblets you can usually get them free, also go to your local outdoor market and you will see butchers selling boxes of chicken usually i bout a 8kg box of chicken legs wings everythin for £10.. and that lasts ages.
