SportingShooter 0
Recently, when walking around an old and long disused release pen on my shoot I found the wires to two Fenn traps and pulled the traps out of the ground, who knows how long they have been there, they were both unset by the way. The both need attention but are salvageable, one works reasonable well while the pressure pad on the other wont move, I have no choice but to oil it with something like WD40, my question is how do I get rid of the smell so I can put the trap back down. Regards SS Firstly, boil the traps in water containing a little soda to remove all traces of oils........rinse and then add walnut husks or oak bark and boil again..........job done. Use a wire brush to clean up any rusty areas. Rolfe. Quote Link to post
