hi all anyone used or know if a alsation would have any use in the field,as other half has a pup,and was wondering if it could help out my young lurcher,maybe foxes ,as only use my lurcher on rabbits, please reply

as much as i like gsd dogs,i wouldnt get one for hunting purposes,there too big and arent bred for it,before anyone starts ive had 2 in my life time and he did chase rabbits and catch and kill em,better off leaving them to what they do best,guard dog/police dog

i'd have to agree...wouldn't get one for hunting....but they are crackers

 

absolutely,they are cracking dogs but i find they are prone to problems,hips/backs,my first one had a tumour and died aged 7,my second and best one got diagnosed with leukaemia and i had no choice but to have him put down rather than let him suffer with injections to keep him going(one piece of advice from a shit vet with shit for brains)he was only 17 months.

heartbreaking,great dogs but get a dog bred for the purpose

ive got a lurcher, which i use on the lamp, just she is whippet x collie/grey,bit to small for a fox i think, thats were i thouught the gsd would come in?

gsd only good for guarding,but would anyone consider putting a gsd into the lurcher mixer.there are pros and cons i would think.

What about if your lurcher pulls the fox down and then the GSD catches up and finishes the job ?

just asked my old man he reckons you can never really judge a dog on breed alone,he once had an irish setter that took the odd hare,and was a demon for foxes so give him a try you never know your luck,all the best.
