I was walking the dogs today on the clithero side of Pendle hill in Lancs, now, there's an albino crow that frequents the area and i saw him again today...........................the first time i saw him was in 1982, if my maths are correct this makes him at least 26 :icon_eek:

I know crows can live along time in captivity , but , in the wild and with the disadvantage of being albino :hmm:

Is the albino gene hereditary and this crows one of the original crows offspring?

We got one over here near to the reebok stadium at bolton, frequently seen on the fields and even around the round about over the M61. Hes been around a few years now. The albino gene isnt a dominant gene but is passed on to the young. Albinos are only produced by two parents are carrying the albino gene. Think theres two near middle brook but one isntexacly albino its a sort of cinnamon/ brown colour.

:hmm: I seem to remember that is was on here we were shown a news report about a nest full of albino " Ravens " around Worcestershire or somewhere? Can't remember the details now, but they were patently just C. corone. I think they were said to have been found all hanging about in a grave yard, half starved or something?

JD rings a bell on this one. Don't know if he presented it or commented? He may remember more.
