Dullahan 0
The sub-prime motrgage 'Cock up' has left the banks in this country with high outstanding debt balance. The "City" investors are now switching their investments to Agricultural land. This means that 'Tenant Farmers' will obviously be facing higher rents and costs. To compensate for these increases from the land owners agents you may well find that you will have to pay for your "Permissions". This has already started the East Anglia and some farmers endevouring to meet the increase in costs are charging as high as £85 for shooting and hunting permission on their farms. I can only see a great increase in "Poaching" as a result. This has come at a time when at the begining of May it is the time to cull the young Rooks and Squab pigeons. This is a result of greed by the City Investors.
Guest WILF
I would happily pay for permission, to be honest £500 or £1000 a year if the place had a 10 or 20 thousand acres is cheap for legal hunting.

stubby 175
quote; This is a result of greed by the City Investors see, I dont see it that way, I'd never pay, to help clear vermin from someone's land, keep the rabbits, sure, but pay, never so I'd see it as more a problem, that some shooting people or city Investors, that like to play at hunting on weekends, happily pay for permission, cant knock the farmer, for looking a gift horse in the mouth

Wilf, This is "Permission" not "Exclusive Shooting Rights". Permission prevents you being prosecuted for tresspass (and the landowner "Allows" you to take pests from the land) Permission is restricted. He can give permission to two hundred more people (and probably would at £1000 a time.) Edited April 20, 2008 by Dullahan

bill88 6
A christmas card and a bottle of whisky is what ive always "paid" for permission. If a farmer who is getting pest control free of charge! asked me to pay for doing him a favour,i'd tell him to go f*ck himself. Now if i was asked to help clear a few ditches,or help repairing the fencing i'd happily oblige, but no way would i pay in pound notes for "permission"

markbivvy 6
'Tenant Farmers' will obviously be facing higher rents and costs. To compensate for these increases from the land owners agents you may well find that you will have to pay for your "Permissions Tenant farmers don't always hold the shooting rights. And the pest control/vermin shooting is sorted by the owners, Which is usually down the syndicate in which case the price is already to high for most of us on here. so shooting will revert back to being a rich mans sport and poaching/thieving will thrive.
