Unless you've got shitloads of rats in one place give cages a miss. IMHO if you go for a multi catch, buy a monarch. They are available on evil bay for about £12 + carriage. Avoid the big chessy rubbish and the 'whole family' type.

If its just for the odd rat, you wont go far wrong with a few modified victors, or dare I say it, the good old Fenn Mk4. Have a read of some of the threads on here and you will see some good stuff on snaring and trapping rats...........

Matt recommended a Monarch type - pic below. They have a repeating door which resets after a rat has gone through. I recognise the design you're talking about - with a main treadle release door and a little 'push past' door at the back. I think they're often marketed as 'family' traps but I have no experience of them and I'd be a bit concerned that the back door could be opened from inside.
