Pignut 4
My old lurcher is losing weight again. Last time, vet examined him and put him on very expensive canine multivitamin tablets. They weren't that dissimilar to human ones (perhaps slightly less in vitamin content). Vitamins for humans are cheaper than the ones the vet gave the dog. So question is, can you give dogs multivitamins from the Chemist? Thanks Pignut
bill88 6
Dogs have different vitamin/mineral requirements to humans so i wouldnt mate.Seems odd that the vet prescribed vitamin supplements to put weight on the dog?
Guest joe ox
If you friendly with any greyhound lads get them to sort you with a couple of vitamin b12 injections, which will give him a good appetite and put a spring back in his step.

Pignut 4
Bugger. Sadly no greyhound lads around here - so off to vet on Tuesday morning. I think this is the start of something bigger, actually. He is not himself really - off in a dwaam (Shetland for dreaming). He just stands up and looks vaguely into the distance and then doesn't know why he is there - a bit like when you walk into a room for something and then forget what it was! I can't put my finger on it, but he is not himself at all. Maybe old age is catching up on him. Most of his litter mates are dead (not a long living lot) and he is 12. Maybe the vet will have an answer. Probably not - just a big bill as usual. Cheers, anyway Pignut
