I am not a fan of Finepix at all. Delayed shutter - so when you see the potential photo, press the button, there is a delay and you miss the thing.

I love Canons. The Powershot G9 is a good solid little camera - there is a lot of variations stuffed into that small camera and you can put it on automatic and it makes the choices for you. I have taken so good shots with Canons. Do not get an old Canon as it is a false economy. Technology has moved on so much in the last couple of years so there are alot of cheap second hand cameras out there that have been superceded by much better models.

It is worth the money to spend as much as you can afford. You get what you pay for and a cheap camera will take adequate photos, a good camera will take excellent ones. It is also worth RTFM - honestly sit down with a pint and read the bloody thing. Then you will get the most out of your camera and make it work for you!

Good luck

Pignut.

yes in the 150 -300 price range a wee cannon is the best bet,

i have an older cannon powershot elph here a very good compact.

but you should try one out in the shop before you buy cause some of the newer models are dummied down.

I started out with a fujifilm camera similar to the ones you are intrested fix lens etc but they are no where near as good as the real SLR cameras. just remember if you buy new that you will defentally need to buy a bigger lens aswell as the lens you get in most new kits are only small.

as a beginner camera the kit my mate is selling is perfect for you with both a small and bigger lens.
