better still................... a vet

I'll give you an account I had at the vets recently. One of the greyhounds I was running had performed well below par in a race on the friday night,so on the saturday morning I took him into the local vets who diagnosed sore tendons below the back of his wrist.I was told not to run the dog for at least six weeks,if I did the dog could be finished. :o

He offered me some Metacalm [an antinflammatory] which I politley refused.

Luckily for me [and the dog] a friend of mine was travelling over to Brian Jones [a specialist greyhound vet] in Ireland with a couple of dogs so he took mine as well.

When Brian checked the dog over all he could find was a slight tear in his thigh muscle. My mate asked him to check the dogs tendons again but Brian said there is nothing at all wrong with the tendons.

Brian told us to treat the dog with the ultrasound machine and gallop him in 3 weeks. :)

That is the difference between a specialist greyhound vet and your local cow and sheep vet I suppose. ;)
