tote 870 Posted March 12, 2008 Report Share Posted March 12, 2008 Can anyone recomend anybody in northeast that could check me dog over as it took knock other night and i think its put a disc out on lower back? would be grateful for any help folk better still................... a vet I'll give you an account I had at the vets recently.One of the greyhounds I was running had performed well below par in a race on the friday night,so on the saturday morning I took him into the local vets who diagnosed sore tendons below the back of his wrist.I was told not to run the dog for at least six weeks,if I did the dog could be finished. He offered me some Metacalm [an antinflammatory] which I politley refused. Luckily for me [and the dog] a friend of mine was travelling over to Brian Jones [a specialist greyhound vet] in Ireland with a couple of dogs so he took mine as well. When Brian checked the dog over all he could find was a slight tear in his thigh muscle.My mate asked him to check the dogs tendons again but Brian said there is nothing at all wrong with the tendons. Brian told us to treat the dog with the ultrasound machine and gallop him in 3 weeks. That is the difference between a specialist greyhound vet and your local cow and sheep vet I suppose. Guest Top Chalker Posted March 12, 2008 Report Share Posted March 12, 2008 There is a top bone man in the Sunderland area ! i use him , he is very good , if you no any greyhound men they will no him , sorry i cant give his name and number out ! but all the greyhound men will no who he is , try asking one of them ...if you can get in to see him he WILL fix your dog if it can be fixed , good luck ........
