getting my SGC

Recommended Posts

been thinking for some time about getting my SGC but as im only 15 i am not too shure aboutthe laws and wether my mum or dad would have to get a licence for me to keep it in house, but as i go hunting and beating with my grandad would he have to get a licence to transport it too?

i know i realy need to go see my FAO but thought i would ask on here too. i don't know if there is any FAO on here or not but anyone that has gone throught the same or is in the know would be brilliant...

cheers paddy

i had my first SGC when i was 15, my father also had one but it mattered little apart from buying guns and ammo.

you can have a shotgun on you cert from 15 and use it on your own as well as transport it.

it would be handy if your father or someone over 17 you know very well has a cert as they could buy ammo and buy a gun for you then transfer it to your cert.

as long as you meet certain criteria they must issue you a cert.

these are generally

1.you have safe storage

2.you are trustworthy to have a cert

3. you have a valid countersignatory

4. you pay the right amount

5. you have a good reason for wanting a shotgun.

a good reason can be anything from clays to pigeons as long as your FAO is satisfied you meet all of the above points he should be satisfied.

hope this helps

hi paddy.t

well i am 15 and my sgc arrived today so don't be scared and get that application sent away as long as you can get a gun from another sgc holder i.e parent, relative and have a secured cabinet and are safe and not been in the police bad books then you will be ok
