Day out with whip today

Recommended Posts

Had a day out today with kirk (whip off here). We had a look round and smoked a few holes but no rats were showing. Today was for more of a look around than a trip for a certain quarry. We had a walk around the farm and the terriers marked a few places for us to remember. We took a walk down to a hay barn and my black and white jack russel entred the bails straight away. He was soon crying as he tryed to reach his fox after about 10 min he made contact for a brief period but the fox must have dropped between some bales where he couldnt get to it. When he finally came out looking for another place to entre i climbed ontop of the bails and the place was covered in holes and scats. He soon entred again but still couldnt find away to get to this fox. We entred him into the far side and he was baying steady within about 5 min but this soon stoped as his quarry moved and again he wasnt able to get to it. Im am very pleased with him as he has a brilliant nose but unforunatly his ches is too deep to allow him entrance to alot of earths. Also today my little jack russel bitch entred for the first time she had followed the dog in befor i had chance to stop her. You will also see in some of the pics that i have a brown and white jack russel dog who is the perfect size for foxing but after a bad experiance to ground he will no longer entre and just sits in the holes with just his tail showing. Kirks dog is a deer hound X grey hound he is absolutely stunning. We walked a few fields and woods but didnt see much other than a lonley cock pheasant that floted off into the bushes. All in all a great day was had and im sure kirk will have his say and we will be going back for the foxes in the bails.

I know you should never double up when working foxes that are to ground but in these sercumstances would you consider it. There are holes everywhere, (about 30). Im certain there is more than 1 fox in there. What would you do ?
