the foxes down our way are causing a few problems, first of all about week and a half ago phone rings can you come up

fox has just had hold of one of my geese and trying do drag it through the fence.he said he was out in the yard and the crows were going mad and he didnt think any more of it ,then he went inside to do some thing and heard a disturbance out side and seen this fox trying to get the goose ,now this chap has an ill wife who has just had treatment for some serious illness

and thats the last thing he wanted as she thinks a lot of her birds, any how went up with the lamp had a good call but nothing then went a little further and called again a sweep with the lamp towards the wood and theres mr fox looking for some thing thats making this squeal i was watching his face he was around 80yards facing me ,that one was dealt with ,but this dog was over the other end of the farm so i wasnt convinced this was the one ,then im in work then another farmer rings my mates phone but he was off nights and in bed so his wife told him to call me ,he said can you come over theres a fox eating on a dead sheep that died in the night due to birth problems ,so i was about 15 minutes away as i had to go get the rifle out of the cabinate then get over to the farm any way i parks up gets the rifle out and loads up i knew where this ewe was lying as he told me where she was as i approached up the side of the wood i could see the fecker eating off it , the magpies were all around it going mad ,it was uneasy eating then looking all around took me a few minutes to get in to position i would move only when it dropped its head to eat it was about 100 yards perfect side on it was a reel red dog and that fat from eating i probably

could have caught it myself ,only joking, the .222 made short work of that not a kick out of him one very pleased farmer and secured permission.then on the phone to go to a neighbouring farm to the first complaint and he said that he too had lost a goose a week earlier and that he had found it dead in the morning with its head and neck missing so had a walk with lamp last night and there sure enough below the sheep stands mr fox a little sqeek and he is commin up to have a look but as he comes up the sheep are crossing in front and are in the way but they do eventually get out of the way i thought that i was gonna have to stop him but as the sheep cleared he stopped at about 80 yards and again looking straight at us and that one was also taken by the .222 and again a fair size dog fox took him back to the farm and i bet looking at the weight he was he was the one who was taking the geese

so all in all a good result but will be out again in the next couple of days . sorry no pics i gotta get the mrs to show me how to put em on .

hi foxdropper

yep its nice when your out and gets one or two ,it makes up for the misses you ocassionally get and the cold nights

getting in and then having to clean the rifle and putting it back in the cabinate with out waking the mrs up etc

i keeps most of the heads to give to our local taxidermist ,its a pity to waste em if he can use them to get good mounts

and this guy is the best in the country
