20g shotgun advice

Recommended Posts

Ok,

i own a 20g and a couple of 12g's so i dont want a hushpower or for that matter a .410,

but i want to know the legalities of putting a moderator on a shotgun,

and has anyone done it on a 20g?

My Main point would be that it had to be removable! (hence why i need to know if anyone has any experience in this area!)

the 20g in question is an Escort Magnum 20g 24inch barrel with synthetic stock.

Its main use would be for Rabbits when ferreting and mooching around.

Cheers in advance, Matt

from what i can remember, the process of putting a moderator on a shotgun involves drilling quite a few holes in the barrel so that the gases can be vented into the baffles. so whether it is possible to shoot the gun with the moderator removed i dont know, i have shot guns with ported barrels at the muzzle, but they are all neatly drilled in two rows on either side so whether that also makes a difference i am unsure. certainly i have seen moderated 20 bore autos, and also i have seen an advert for people to have their guns moderated. i think it is done by the Saddelry and Gunroom. so my advice would be to either look on their website or give them a call to see if they can give you any extra information and a quote!

thanks

That is the same company i have been looking at, i will have to give them a call.

I found nothing on the web seperately for a 20g so im not sure.

drilling holes in my barrel will annoy me but i could get over it!

Im surprised nobody has brought out a kit, there are kits for the .410 but not for 20g!!!!
