gaz 284
Every good dogman should know his own dogs strengths and weaknesess,we all like to speak of our dogs strong points but what about your grafters weak points in their make-up or breeding ?? As we know the perfect all-rounder is a bit like the holy grail to find and breed, some that have been in the game a while have proberly been close and some that have been lucky will have come close aswell but if folk are honest theres always one or two traits where the said lurcher could be better.....eg,stamina,good feet, heart and drive, early pace, retreiving ect ect, Now for a question to everybody out there, hypothetically speaking........where if you could, better your lurcher as a worker ? if you could put in where it sometimes lacks, what would it be ? I keep and work beddie types myself and they do everything i ask of them but if i was being honest their a bit short from being allrounders imo as they lack top-end pace in behind a good hare with a bit of ground to make-up aswell as being a bit headstong at times......I know its horses for courses ect but if you could play god for the day what would you change or add to bring your mutt closer to the much sought after all-rounder. Guest SJM
My old bitch has a fantastic nose, a good strike and tons of stamina, almost idestructable feet (1 injury in 7 seasons) she will jump anything in front of her and work any sort of cover, the only thing lacking in her was that extra gear for brown hares. If I could improve that, I would have the perfect allrounder. I would also have to rewind time though so I could get another 7 seasons with her, that would prove a bit harder to do, sadly Quote Link to post
