philpot 5,167
A short time ago, I sold my .22lr Tika and fac air as they were not getting the use THEN we hear about the 'leaders' in charge of our nation want to bring shotguns into fac status ( which of course will not make even the slightest difference to public safety ) but nevertheless I thought I needed to keep my firearms ticket in use so hopefully will help if this change of rules comes about and the fact that I have a few large rabbit perms so a rimmy will be used again. I had a slot on my ticket for another rimmy but I didn't want to spend a lot on one, after a rumage around the store room at my rfd, I picked up a BRNO with scope, mod and bipod for £80 so we are off again. Well I should not have put it on my ticket without a full test........................... it was a similar group to my 12gauge, I changed the mod, no mod at all, hand fed the rounds, bloody rubbish so it went back to the rfd. This time I was able to test a few guns until I found a CZ without any frill but it was spot on with the groups but the only issue is now that I have no slots available on the ticket to actually buy it. I contacted the firearms office to check if a 'one for one' change to my ticket was still available without the hassle of a variation and £49 and it is still available so with a lot of learning on the spot, I filled in the online form on the mobile then send in my ticket by post. I did get a return response to say all my details had been received and I SHOULD get my replacement ticket in 8 weeks. I cannot understand why we even need to do a variation on a like for like gun, it only needs the email sending through to advise a change to another gun of the same spec, so simple and straight forward, just think if this is going to be the case if shotguns become section 1 firearms, a nightmare........ I wish you all have a Happy New Year as I sit here watching the mail every day......................... Phil Quote Link to post
teagcoilh 18
That’s frustrating but sadly very familiar. The logic around like for like swaps makes no sense at all, and the wait times just add insult to injury. Fingers crossed the ticket comes back quicker than quoted, happy new year to you too. philpot 5,167
Well last week my ticket arrived and less than 8 weeks so my thanks to the ticket office. I popped into the RFD a day later to pick up the CZ452 but first I took a Hawke Airmax Compact scope with me (a scope I have used and still do on a number of rifles and one I have faith in). I needed to set the gun up so as there is a 25mt indoor range at the RFD it was a good start point and as expected this little rifle using RWS subs was nothing short of perfect, a short test using Hornady HV (1200fpe) was slightly off zero but again perfect results in terms of groups. All I want now is for this bloody rain to go somewhere else, Saturday looks dry so far so fingers crossed I can zero out to 60yds with a few hold over points worked out, fingers crossed.
