.Joe 0
So i thought i had had a bummer of a night, when my lamping session with the air guns on bunnies got cancelled, as we usually have a good 30 - 50 rabbit night.... Still, i sat indoors and had to get out so took my dogs for a walk. Dogs being 1 gun dog trained, slightly over weight Black lab, and an 11 month old jack russell pup. Anyway, after reading in the foxing forum about the mp3 sound files for calling, i downloaded one to my phone and thought i would give it a go whilst walking the dogs. I had seen 3 charlies the night before and mde a mental note that i must see to their demise with the gun soon, as they are around ewes in lamb. i tried 1 call, and within the minute i had a situation on my hands! Both my dogs had taken off across the field in hot pursuit of the big dog fox that had done the swoop on me and had picked up my scent about 30 yrds out. To my surprise, my j/r pup was almost catching on him when he ducked the fence and disappeared leaving my pup yelping, as she doesnt like electric fencing! I thought that was it for the night, and i hadnt even come out to get anything so was far from disappointed as i my pup had shown he was keen. But no! Just as i was leaving the field, the dog fox had obvioulsy pushed some rabbit into the middle of the field and they got caught in the lamp. I slipped the dogs and that was that. They both took off in to the beam and gave chase...both coming back with results! Anyone that would have seen us would have been in stitches at the sight of a fat black lab, and scrawny lanky russell pup chasing rabbits about, but i can honestly say that it was the most fun i have had in ages! so for tonight it was the oddball dogging team 2 - bunnies 0! Anyone else been out recently and had the bug bite hard again despite no results? Quote Link to post
