AmyJUW 2
I’m not sure about the exact legal requirements for a Garden gun, but I’ve had a similar question when I bought a shotgun a while ago. I had to check with local authorities to make sure I was following all the rules, and in my case, I needed to apply for a Shotgun Certificate. When I was figuring out storage for it, I decided to buy safe online to find a reliable and secure option. I ended up with a safe that met all the requirements, and it was really reassuring knowing my shotgun was locked up properly. If you're unsure, it’s always best to double-check with your local firearms office just to make sure you’re covered. Edited February 19 by AmyJUW Quote Link to post
jakethompson 6
You’ll definitely need a shotgun certificate (SGC) for a garden gun, as it’s technically a shotgun, even though it's more of a novelty or specialized tool for close-range pest control. Like others have mentioned, they’re fun for short-range stuff like rats in the shed, but I’d agree that an air rifle can often be more efficient for most garden pest control, especially if noise is a concern. I also used mine to teach gun safety to the kids—it’s great for that and definitely brings a bit of nostalgia with the old-school feel. Just be mindful of barrel length regulations—anything shorter than 24" might need an FAC. Quote Link to post
