Guest SJM
Just to add at the end of the day colour shouldnt matter in a working dog, nor should the name given to it. I register blue and tan pups as black and tan just because I know it pisses off the frumpy show people and gives them something to moan and stress over The saying a good dog is never a bad colour is very true Quote Link to post

Dawn B 212
Blue & tan is the usual black & tan as in the GSD, it just looks blue because of the agouti banding that's common in wire haired breeds. Quote Link to post
landrover 6
our two were black and tan when they were born, then went to grizzle as they got older (6-12 months) and now Quote Link to post
Dawn B 212
Yes most are born very dark and often mistaken for blues, nice pups! Quote Link to post

bucknut 1
many thanks for the comments. i've already got two adult bitch borders one is not a grafter - not interested and has become a family pet. the other the mother of these is a great worker but im unsure which pup to keep? the dark bitch show is a character but not as spunky as her sister a little red bitch. its either one or the other that comes out of box first to see me as i arrive. all six fight on with each other but how can you tell? i dont want another dog wasting kennel space? any advice please.
