Your Ideal Deer Dog

hi all i was just wondering what is your ideal make up of a dog to be a deer dog i no they have to be strong and well-built but surely they have to be fast enough to catch the thing :laugh: also if any of you have any pre ban picks then post them :yes:

after hunting and catching large numbers for years when there was a price, the best dogs ive saw were collie types and some good saluki strains most importantly they clean kill and dont rip lumps out them , all in all its no big deal spinning a few roe over the fun then started getting home safely and picking the kill up , caught hundreds and made good money but well the games finishd for a large qauntity a season , but thye eat well and make luvly sausages and burgers , and the dogs like chewing the ribs and offal pre ban , all the besy

the first lurcher i had [bANNED TEXT] i was yong was the best bitch ive seen on dear that;s all we use to run and my dad wouldnt let me run aney think ells with her we use to see sh/t lood;s of hare;s fox and rabbit and not touch them she was dearhound garyhound she use to take them all that;s why that;s the only type of lurcher i wood have cos that;s the tipe of dogs i like

Just my opinion for what it is worth but a dog that takes deer in the manner you describe will miss alot more than it will take. I prefer a dog that takes a hock then moves to the throat once the deer is floored :thumbs:

ive saw a good beardie cross work roe lamping and day light , a guy and freind had him home bred he used to right about them in earth dog running dog ,but not saw many more like him all in all after 20 seasons of roe catching or more, saluki crosses and home bred collie crosses for hares roe etc on big nites yet to see anything better . espec on big feilds were the roe can stretch a dog out not small feilds with obstacles , all the best ,
