British law

Recommended Posts

Got the most remarkable (well for me) information today...all hunting with dogs was made illegal here (Netherlands) in 1924. I knew that.

But according to transcripts of local law and interviews I've seen, lamping as defined catching rabbits with a longdog by aid of a lamp has been legal on the island of Terschelling untill the use of lamps was made illegal under European law in 1999.

So for some freak reason legal use of longdogs survived a ban for 70 years on a dutch island. :D

Could this happen with harecoursing in the UK, is THE LAW the same everywhere? What about these weird grassy islands in the North?

The law as it stands at the moment under this pathetic government is that England and Wales share the same laws. Scotland and Ireland have their own, as do the Isle of Mann. Jersey, Gurnsey and the Isle of Wight come under English Law.

I like your thinking though!!!
