farlap 19
Does anyone know the definitive rules regs on stuffing a genuine road kill otter. I have found it nigh on impossible to get any info from Defra and on the wonderful interwebby thingy i cant find any decent taxidermists. i went through old cla catalogues and rang a couple up but neither wanted to touch it incase it was dodgy! So does anyone know the real rules or even know someone who would do an otter?
mouse 282
need to take it to a vets and get written proof from them that it is a road kill.when it is stuffed it needs to be logged and numbered i think.hope this helps.
ferretman22 1
just had one done you dont need to take it to the vets for proof of death. besides theyll only bugger up the skin. my taxidermist will do it for 370 in aglass tank. but you need ageniune reason why you want e.g education use i what i used. you need to write aletter saying which road you found it on date and time and your reasons. good luck

Guest baldie
Be very careful, despite the already voiced opinions, it is illegal to possess any part of an otter, stuffed or otherwise, without proof of when, where etc, unless its an antique, and can be proved to be so, i believe the cut off date is around 1953. I have a mask by spicer, which dates from the 30,s and has an ivory plaque on saying so.I dont know the exact law for you, but i do know you cant just pick it up, bugger off to joe the stuffer, and have it done.At the very least it has to be DOE registered [metal tags etc] Do a bit more homework, and ring up a DOE registered taxidermist. You have to have all this for a badger, so i,m damned sure you do for a "harry potter"

Defra said it could only be done for educational or museum purposes....so much conflicting info even from the experts. next question can anyone reccommend a registered taxidermist who actually does a good job?
