RATATTACK SMOKER / ARTHUR CARTER

Recommended Posts

thought id put this up as someone has just asked about one...

i bought one the other day as im just starting to get into ratting & put it to use on sunday.

for the first four hours it was working great with out any problems. i had it turned off for a while whilst we had a break, then after 30 minutes or so i started it back up again " by this time the weather turned, it got windier & started to drizzle", it ignited for about 5 seconds & then went out. i tried to start it again over the next half an hour but it wouldnt have it, even by placing a lighter underneath where is advised if the igniter fails which it didnt, but i thought this would give it a better chance of getting it going. took it home & let it get back to normal temperature & kept trying it but still no joy, even tried it the next day, & no joy .

i rang ARTHUR CARTER & they said i should send it back in to them to have it checked over. i said to them i thought it had a problem with the gas leaving the nozzle as i could hardly hear any gas hissing out which i could here when it was working fine, they agreed that this could be the problem & it wouldnt be the first time it has happened.

i sent it off today so ill see what they say the problem is..

pros:

easy to start / when working properly with no gas feed faults !

pumps out shit loads of pure white smoke

the oil seems to last ages

cons:

you wouldnt want to stay down wind of it for too long as the smell is sickly

its gone back to MR CARTER only having used it once.

ill let you know the results & outcome when i get it back.

im glad the lads i invited down had a couple of two stroke smokers ! ive now got myself a two stroke blower that im going to convert !

WE HAVE A SMALL RATTING TEAM AND WE WERE GONNA BUY ONE BETWEEN US BUT GOT A LOT OF BAD REPORTS ABOUT THE SMOKER,SO DIDNT BUY ONE.

WE USE AN OLD CHAIN SAW FOR SMOKING RATS BUT DIG MOST OUT FOR BEST RESULTS.

thanks for your time and info mate, i dont think i will rush out and get one. sounds like might b ok only if weather conditions are ideal and dont break down.. cheers

personally, i would hold fire for a while. i noticed that their was an adjuster at the rear to change how much gas is released when the bottle is screwed in. CARTERS said it might need adjusting, not the on / off dial, but the brass rod that opens the bottle valve.

like i say, to me i reckon it is a problem with the gas flow. knowing my luck, i got a faulty one !

when i get mine back or a new replacement, that is when i can give it the test & see what the outcome is. failing that ill be demanding my money back from the suppliers..
