timjim 43
i am in the process of filling out form 103 to apply for my SGC but, i do have some previous convictions for gbh and reckless driving but both are over 20 years ago, also my wife suffers with depression, will these things count against me, my mate says that if it would help i can store my gun at his adress as he is already a SGC holder and has plenty of room in his cabinet, would i benifit from joining any organisations to make my application any smoother, i have done a search but didnt find the information that i need thanks for any help Tim Quote Link to post
Ratman2 2
I recon the best thing to do is phone your Fierarms Department, they're usually helpful. BASC in my opinion is the best organisation for sorting shooting and gun ownership problems. To store your gun at a mates place can lead to problems, for a start it would have to be on your mates SGC. Hope this helps a bit and good luck. Quote Link to post
timjim 43
thanks for that mate, have filled in the form putting down all my convictions even though they may be classed as spent, i dont want to seem as if i am trying to hide anything, have been advised to get a gun cabinet and get it securely bolted to the wall in the corner of a room, out of sight of casual visitors, then there will only have to be one visit from the FireArms Officer, if i am not sucessful i can always use it for my air rifle Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Tim; Just as well ye mentioned them all, because ye have to. Though they're " Spent ", ye still have to state them where firearms are concerned. I'd have thought it said that in the small print? Anyway, best of luck, mate. Condition of ye family members is nothing to do with anyone, by the way. Not them applying. Regards ye cabinet. Just a little tip: They tend to have the hinges on the right. So tuck it hard into a corner to the left. Makes it an absolute b*stard to work a tool into the less fortified / opening side of the door Saying that; My own one didn't cost much and has f*ck off great steel bolts like a bank safe! Gone are the days of wash room lockers. These days extremely secure cabinets cost amazingly little Quote Link to post
Gimli 0
And join the BASC. When I got my SGC a year ago, the FAO phoned the two clay grounds at which I told them I was shooting to check on behavior, gun safety etc - so that might help too. On the depression, my wife had suffered from minor depression and been treated for it six months before, but she applied for and got a shotgun certificate too. Quote Link to post
