Kye 77
Hi all,.. Just wondering if any of you lads that run hares (Pre ban of course) use pure bred Salukis?... Ive never realy had that many chances to run hares, the main reason being that when i was back home there wasnt many about on my ground, although we still managed to get a few. Ive been out with a fair few Saluki hybrids, but have only ever been out with two pure bred ones...one i rated very highly, it done everything, lamped rabbits, ferreting, mooching, deer, and it was a very nice hare stopper...it would go in on fox, although it was never that keen. The second was probably the WORST dog i have ever seen hunt, and was a pig to get it to come back...probably the worst dog i have ever been out with. I know alot varies, as with any breed/type... I live in the middle of the desert, and anyone who has been here will tell you how harsh the terrain/weather is...the most common quarry around us is the jack rabbit. I havent had the chance to see any pure breds run over here, and i think the most of them that are run are at NOFCA meets, and im sure they would be KC types. I wonder how a well bred one would fair in the desert, seeing that they are a desert type anyway?...how would they do? I run my Stags out here, and i have been lucky so far...apart from one big wreck a while back, but the bitch is over that. Just curious what you lads had to say on the matter? Thanks in advance,.. Kye.. Quote Link to post
