Pigeon shooting permission

Recommended Posts

as a pestie on the underground, we cull lots of pidgeon, as ditch says, we arnt allowed to use air rifles unless

we have the bisley safe use of airguns cert/or simular

rifles calibrated monthly

shoot in two's, one shooting, one picking up/bagging/spotting with torch

head shots only

stick a section in, saying no pidgeons with a leg ring will be shot, keeps the racing pidgeon people off ya back,

we only shoot at night, using a lamp as is legal, british transport police are easy to give us the ok, but when we under rail bridges, using local plod its a whole different ball game,

i would think normal plod wouldent accept you in daytime, so maybe a case of between 0130am till 0330am phone up before hand and ask,

each bird to be humanely dispatched before the next bird is culled

use of hollow head pellets only, less chance of ricochet

all culled birds to be double bagged in heavy duty sacks

have you thought of disposal!!

if they want method statements etc, then they gonna want to know whats happening to them after cull, we have to fill in a waste disposal form, name and address of client, how many bags, the name of the disposor, ie insinerator firm (more cost) and your name/address as the carrier, the waste disposal information also needs to be on show in your van/car at all times

full PPE to be worn by all people present, protective googles, blood splatter from birds/ricochet from pellets

latex gloves worn at all time to stop contamination

disposable boiler suits

yup a hi-vi

boots

notices to stick up, warning of bird cull in place, no entry unless athorised

red and white barrier tape to section off area

i could go on and on, but i just got off nights, and im tired, these may all seem a little over the top, but our work is on underground stations, NO PUBLIC PRESENT ANYTIME, yours, in a public area i would think this lot would be a minimum requirement

if ya wanna ask any questions, pm me and ill send ya me mobile number back
