redrob... 0
up and out early today with the 2 borders had to leave the lurcher at home she,s had a knock {good job really}, checked afew places but nowt at home so just had a rake around the train banking, well the border dog caugh summut in the rough and the border bitch went into the rough to join in, at first i thought it was a mixy rabbit but after afew seconds i realized it wernt no rabbit, so i dived in and grabbed hold of a young munty, now this thing was only about 10-12" tall, god knows how old it is, so i quickly gets the dogs off it , lifts it up in the air to keep the dogs away and it starts to sound off , i grab one dog by the neck the other im holding between my feet as im trying to put it back under the cover i look up and the doe is bollicking down the field towards me she gets to about 10 yards then see,s me and she is off, i had alittle look at this young un no cuts or any thing and put it back and it shoots off , hopefully it will be ok, so i carry the 2 dogs for about 50yards drops them both and walk on then the 2 dogs come across the line the doe took and they were off, no chance of calling them back , i could see the little sods 2 fields off heads down, i pegged it down hill to keep them from the young un, went on abit and they caught a pheasant, checked afew more place,s and the little sods put up another mutty and were off again, i stuck the collars on and headed for home. the munty must breed all year round no wonder there is so many about.
