Help

Hi all, I've recently bought a 50 yard longnet and I'm getting on reasonably well with it but I have one problem... When i take it up after a days work I put it in my bag, then the next day I go out it always manages to get into tangles so every time I set the net up to 15 minutes could be wasted just trying to get the tangles out!.... Any ideas? Help would greatly be appreciated!

Thanks Richard

are you using end pins??

I made a few sets from cheap 99p rod rest's,

cut off the rod rest bit, bend a large square as ya handle, with about 8" of point, i covered mine in old hose pipe, to stop the net getting tangled on any bits of metal,

when collecting your net in, holding the pin in right hand, reach out and take hold of both top and bottom runner about a yard away, then push the spike of end pin, through the net about 2 holes down from the held together top and bottom, continue doing this to end of net, where the other end pin is placed alongside the pin with all the net on, and running line hanging is wound around the 2 pins, and these are also held together with an elastic band

job done

one setting out the net next time, place 1st pin in ground and walk backwards, allowing the net to slip off the held pin as you walk back, insert last pin, then walk back inserting ya poles,

even that is time consuming, so after a few months of doing that, i swapped over to quickset longnet instead
