Guest Lord B
I'm interested in hearing peoples views on the "perfect game gun", if such a thing exists. And reasons why? I have to say that for ne it would be (is) a 27 inch 16bore side by side. Its fast, light, easy to handle and has all the whack of large heavier guns, and just looks that much more esthetically pleasing. Quote Link to post
v-max 2
Hello depends on the disaplin of game gun from driven to walked up.I like SBS & have a sable deluxe sidelock 26" barrel in improved cy & 1/4 choke with DT.I shoot well with it at driven & walked up but think its great for walked up due to its lightness & flat side under the action to rest on the forearm when walking or broken.Even though i have shot high birds with 1st barrel next to lads with 28"/30" barrels & tighter chokes & killed better so has proved to me that it can be done & its a mental thing.I must admit i like 28" barrels & 1/4 1/2 or 3/4 choke & find an O/U very good for driven & more pointable.I have a semi-auto & what i shoot most & love this for all my shooting but not qutie the gun for driven game in many minds.Dont know if modern forcing cones etc do much but i put cyilinder in my auto & ended up with 28g 7.1/2 trap cartridge to finish a drive on a last bird last year & people went on about it & asked the choke & cart & wouldent beleave me so to me chokes & barrel length mean nothing on modest/sensable game shooting.I use 28g No.6 to 30/32g No.6-5 normally on game/pigeon/rabbit etc. Quote Link to post
