ferret wanted

well it is my first time keeping ferrits, i am used to going out with the gun and my two labs.but latley have found after walking for very long distances theres very little above ground. seeing plenty of signs that there, there. so any boddy about my neck of the woods has or knows of one that would be brill. it would need to be very tame and be well handled. any tips on keeping them would be great .cheers horse.

Stubbys' absolutely Spot On answer; In case it gets deleted for being in the wrong section:

 

firstly mate, totally wrong section to post in, this is dogs, you want the ferret section, secondly, if you aint kept ferrets before, you'll want more than just "tips" so my tip would be go get a good book covering all aspects of keeping ferrets etc

not many people are gonna wanna part with a fert at this time of year, plus you want a well handled one, so maybe a rescue centre?

if not and you have no joy, Id say spend till next year reading up on them, getting hutches built/bought etc, then get a youngster next year, that you can handle daily

 

 

I'd only add to that: Don't tell the rescue ye want to work them ~ "Them"? Ye'll want two or three ~ and say they're for pets. Wear a 'nice' jumper when ye go to enquire.

 

Also, look out a book by Val Porter and Nicholas Brown. Published by Pelham a couple of decades or so back. That was in the days before people fed ferrets recycled vet kill. It'll teach ye more about ferrets than half the people on this forum actually know. It's also a f*cking good read
