Brought a tear to my eye.

Look into my sad brown eyes and tell me that you care

I keep looking for my human, but my humans never there.

I've wagged my tail and licked the hands

That sometimes hit me hard

I'm cold and shivering, hungry, scared

Chained up in this back yard.

My water's green, my food is rare

My wounds are red and raw.

I wonder what the humans do, behind that kitchen door?

I hear them laugh, I smell their food

I lift my head, and bark,

But my human comes and cuffs me, turns off the light...it's dark!

Snow is drifting, white and cold, in through my kennel door

I try to curl up to keep warm, but the snow is on the floor.

My skin is raw, my fur part gone

I wish that I could die,

I've tried so hard to be so good,so why this life? Oh why?

Please Santa come and rescue me, relieve me from this pain,

I'd rather die than stay chained here

I just need love again.

Footsteps return along the path, I crouch against the wall

Two hands reach in to hit me more, I curl into a ball.

But no......these hands caress and stroke

A ladies voice says''Come

you're quite safe now, we'll make you well

so come along, old son''

Something warm and soft surrounds my frame

A kiss falls on my head

The ladies voice makes soothing sounds

I think I must be dead.

We travel for an hour or so

Then there's another kitchen door,

but this time I'm allowed inside

There's a food bowl on the floor.

There are drinks, and toys,and beds as well

and these are all for me

There are lotions, potions, creams and pills

To make me well, you see.

I have strokes and kisses, hugs and walks

warmth and love abound.

What have I done to deserve all this?

I'm only a scruffy old hound.

I hear my human talking to a friend, upon the phone

And at last I discover why I have this happy home.

I put my muzzle in my bowl, and have a cool, fresh drink.

I count my lucky stars and say

THANK YOU, LURCHER LINK.

tell him moll your dog is all that maters people come after. it does make you think and most do all they can for ther dogs. i have never seen moor beter well looked after dog than a hunting dog.

Spot on Lucky, NOTHING like the arsepca. One of the few who will re-home to GOOD working homes.

they do a great job with the dogs they get most of them would be pts if it wasent for places like lurcher link ..john
