oz0707 65
Just posted this in earth dogs but may be more suited here ... Found a couple of rabbit legs on our walk tonight. Attached to some fur and what not. Bitch is plenty interested and had a sniff n chew. Have bought back as I figure I can trail the scent and hide it see if she finds. Any other tips? oz0707 65
Thanks. She's got no probs picking up the scent when were out. She's crap at spotting but will chase if she sees. Seems dead keen v Like others have I'm having recall probs when she's in the zone as she's only 8months. Will take a few bits in my pocket to reward her tomoz for returning. Quote Link to post
wirral countryman 2,110
Great time of year for starting a young dog off in cover on the rabbits, if she's got a decent nose the rest should follow, I do a bit of retrieve training in the garden to try and get them to bring what they catch out the brambles, etc, just watch the nettles with her early on, try and take her somewhere thats not too dense with them as they are sharp this time of year, once she's catching a few she won't mind so much, good luck with your bitch and get her out as much as possible, WM Quote Link to post
oz0707 65
Been out this morning but just sorting recall didn't let her away from my heel without yelling. It's tough to catch the rabbits far away from their hole or a fence she is picking up the scent and chasing though. Yes plenty of stingers about she's not too fond of them! Doesn't seem to be putting her off she just try's to avoid them when were mooching. Don't think she's bothered if chasing. Quote Link to post
