Leicestershire Police will respond appropriately to reports of protest, crime or disorder at the locations of hunts or ancillary to them. We will deal positively and effectively with unlawful or disorderly a_ctions of persons at the locations and to prevent and detect crime. We also seek to offer assistance and reassurance to members of the public and others going about their lawful business through highly visible policing and the appropriate responses to reported incidents. We seek to ensure that individuals and groups are able to exercise their rights and freedoms under the Human Rights Act, facilitating peaceful protest using appropriate options. We will protect the rights of members of the public including those targeted by such protesters to go about their lawful business without undue hindrance including their right to a private life in line with The Human Rights Act 1998. Police officers have a positive duty to protect life and property and are allowed to use force under various legislation including Section 60 & 60AA Criminal Justice and Public Order Act, if appropriate.
