As there was a shortage of rabbits about last night and Amy didn't get that many runs I was back out tonight. There was no wind to speak of but it did get a bit damp.

I tried a different bit of permission tonight and there were more rabbits about :)

It took half the time to get double the amount of rabbits we got last night. That's rabbiting for you,you never know how many you'll get or how long it'll take you.

I had two outings today with Amy,first we were out along with Jimmy and Amys brother Bob for a bit of ferreting. This was only Amys second time and Bobs first.

It was a cold day to be standing on top of the buries with a camcorder in my hand waiting for a bolt. The rabbits weren't in the mood to leave their buries and the ferrets had to work hard to move them.

We didn't bother with purse nets as we wanted the dogs to get all the action, over a time of an hour and a half they managed to force out 6 rabbits.None of the rabbits went far before they found another burie to get down and although the dogs were on the case they didn't manage to get any.

The only rabbit we got was dug out of the last hole by Jimmy, the pups did get an education though and by the end of the session Amy was giving the burie her undevided attention when the ferret was down.

With the wind still blowing at 7pm I went back out with Amy and the lamp,we had a quick shine through 3 fields. There were a few rabbits about but as would be expected at this time of the season a lot of them have seen the beam before and took to their heels.

Amy had some good runs and managed 5 rabbits for the freezer. :)

With the wind picking up after tea I decided to nip out with Amy for a quick shine.I left the house at 7.30pm for the short journey to my permission, the fields I lamped tonight are all sheep pasture and have been grazed nearly bare and the rabbits certainly knew their way about them.

Rabbit no1 was the easiest of the night as after a tight course it ran head first into a dyke. The next few rabbits were missed,to be fair to the bitch they were all long slips as they were on the move as soon as the beam was flicked on.

The 2nd rabbit Amy caught was fully 50 yards away and only 2 or 3 feet from the fence.I sent the bitch up the beam fully expecting the rabbit just to pop through the fence into the quarry. But it didn't,it hesitated and allowed the bitch to get up to it and soon after it was in her mouth.Just shows there's always a chance.

Another two rabbits were picked up in the last field with one of the courses taking place right infront of me.After taking a couple of pics and gutting the rabbits I was back home at 8.40pm.

Rain rain and yet more rain  It was on with the waterproofs and out into the fields again with Amy walking alongside.I tried a different farm tonight and although most of the fields were saturated with water their were a few bunnies out. :)

Amy aquitted herself well putting 10 rabbits in the bag, she's starting to settle down a bit when she's on the arse of a rabbit and now realises it's not all about raw pace.
