MattSquires 0
I posted this on the wrong forum so hoping you guys might lend any suggestions. Hello! I'm very new to rifle hunting and just picked up a 30-06 and was planning to mount a Leupold VX-1 3-9-40 scope with the LR duplex reticle on it. Used for deer hunting primarily. Most of the land I'll be hunting will be only about 100 yards but I wanted to reach out and tag a deer at 200+ if I ever got the opportunity. I was wondering if the LR reticle was good for a 30-06 or if I'd just be fine with a regular duplex reticle. Thank y'all and if you guys need anymore info please let me know. zx10mike 137
with any centerfire the drop to 200 should be minimal 3" ish and any ret will do that with ease. but if your planning any longer range shots do it on paper first many time so you know your drops exactly.if your going to push the range then personally i would want more mag. MattSquires 0
I went ahead and got the vx-1 with the normal duplex reticle. Everyone told me it was a waste of money since the max range I'd hit a deer at where we're hunting would be around 100 yards at the most.
