Minkenry 1,044
I'm from a falconry background, so I know a little about telemetry, but nothing really about ferret finders. I assume the technology has some similarities, but that's just an assumption. I've never had too much of a need for either pieces of equipment with my mink, as my mink come when I call, and retrieve the game they've killed under ground. However, when hunting in thick brush, it can be quite difficult to keep track of my mink. I can always call my mink back, but that takes my mink off of the trail it's following, thus disrupting the hunt. It would be nice to be able to keep track of my mink when it is out of sight in thick brush, without calling the mink. My question is how far of a range does a ferret finder have? Would it find my mink if it was 30 meters away in thick brush, or does the mink have to be right next to the receiver for it to pick the signal up? Telemetry is very useful for long distances, but I'd loose the signal as soon as the mink went down a hole. I know ferret finders work great if your mink is down a hole, and you know the general area it could be in, but would it find a mink 30-50 meters away, above ground, but in some bushes? dymented 2,220
ferret finders / locators work to about 15 feet the terrier ones work to about 40 feet the b&f works to 50 meters and would be my choice. You would have to modify the transmitter to fit the mink link Quote Link to post
