First Day Out

There's a field on my permission that's used for horses its a triangle shape there's a country lane one side and a motorway the other with an edge row connecting it to the next field at the bottom always wanted to ferret it but Never had chance as the farmer doesn't want anything upsetting the horses ive seen plenty of bunnies in there when walking the other fields so finally got my chance today I knew before I went I had my work cut out with how heavy the cover was just me one ferret and some tree cutters never got there until 12ish took a good 45mins to trim the cover on the first burrow got 15 nets down 10 my side 5 the other waited for a bit changed the batteries in the collar and locater checked it was working ok quick coffee then entered the ferret nothing for about 10 mins then heard a rumble then bang the net burst with a bunny dispatched it new net down ferret pops out the same hole then back in another 10 mins then bang same hole another bunny same again ferret pops out then back in he then starts popping up out the other holes then bang same hole the other two bolted from another bunny in the net but as I was at the top end it managed to bounce it self out so two in the bag and one escape gathered the nets in and on to the second burrow 30 mins to trim the cover on this one only a ten holer netted up and entered the ferret within a minute the first one bolts dispatched it new net down waited 10 minutes then a second hits the net the ferret came out and showed no interest in going back in so called it a day still plenty to go at over there I was well happy with how the day went hopefully back at it next weekend ATB BB
