stormjess 1
Hi Everyone. first time on here, been browsing the site for sometime now looking to learn about owning and working lurchers with the intention of sometime in the future buying one to train for some lamping and mooching around my local fields. unfortunately suddenly and very sadly my 8 year old springer Storm died on Friday, with the shooting season just getting underway I find myself without a working dog cant imagine shooting/ beating without a dog, I do have another springer Jess but had to retire her due to arthritis in her joints last season. I have spent hours on the phone and internet but drawn a complete blank, I do not want to rush into buying one from someone I don't know or has not come recommended and can be trusted to tell us as to the true nature of the dog, Ii have always had my dogs from puppies and knew them very well, although I kennel the dogs at night they become my gun dog the wife's pet and my 7 grandkids playmates when visiting us so I need to be as sure as possible the dog will fit the bill. not forgetting, get on with my other dog Jess. I am looking for a springer Bitch 6 months to 20 months old, trained / part trained to a reasonable standard. so asking and hoping you may be able to help us find the right dog. we live in a great location for dogs on the outskirts of Bristol with a large garden backing onto open accessible fields, willing within reason travel as far as necessary for the right dog. I seen the help and advice you give when asked so here's hoping and thanks for reading this . . Quote Link to post
jessdale 416
Ring around the top trial kennels and ask if they have anything that would fit the bill. A dog that is not going to make the grade, off one of the top guys, will still be better trained than 99% of the dogs on a shoot. Quote Link to post
