Tail Amputation And Shoulder Injury

Recommended Posts

Well, my springer x lurcher cross has poorly tail, I've known this before on one of my other lurcher years ago, his got better quickly, but it was something that was a regular occurrence throughout his life. This isn't the case with this bitch's tail it isn't healing. She seen the vet twice now and at the moment it's looking no better and the vet says it might need amputating to a third of its size. I'll be gutted if this happens, but on the other hand if it's in her health's best interest it will have to be done.

She's also injured her front right shoulder, holding up her leg, but showing no pain.......I've been resting her the last two weeks and just started her on small lead walks as she has started to put weight on it...all I've got in mind is building her walks up gradually and lots of rest. She's going back to the vets regarding this also, but any advice is welcomed.

it wont make any difference having the tail off . but the limping needs to see vet could be anything but they don't usually limp with muscle injuries its more liklley bone or tendon or is had a bang

Cheers oddser, seen the vet regarding shoulder going back for the third time on Saturday......he just said it was a shoulder injury and is monitoring her progress..... (I suppose before further examination).....I'm hoping she recovers well...fingers crossed
