I have kept an bred ferrets for quite sometime about 10years and have never seen this ! this year my young bitch has had 4 kits about a week ago but the size of her belly as not gone down at all in a week after having her young I'm guessing it's her milk glands still swollen with milk but it's almost like she only had half the litter an the other half is still in there if that makes sense she is still active and in no discomfort that I can see all the bitches I've had before get skinny ish again quite quick after giving birth any help appreciated

Did she mate more than once? Mean over a few weeks? Might still need to whelp, get her checked at that vets if you can, or if she is fine with you going near here with kits have a little feel. Last time i breed my jill, afew years ago, she had them over 2-3 days. Hope she is ok anyway

I had a look and cant find ewt on it?? Is she still producing milk? Teats aint hard or anything? I can only go off my jill she pupped over 2-3 days. Have you had a feel of her stomach? Know shouldnt be messing around with her having kits and all. Id ask the vet for some advice or she might just be a well fed jill :-)

Quite poss she well fed I've upped her food as she needs to support young look a right dick if she's just fat lol my missus just told me humans can get pregnant then while just getting caught like a week or 2 maybe more get caught again it's rare but poss maybe it's a ferret version of that lol she is fine in every way producing milk etc etc just weird

Hahaha wouldnt let your jill hear you calling her fat haha.

i would keep looking for discharge etc and her being listless or behavioural changes. If worried get her the vets or just get her a quick check up anyway at the pdsa or something . I know dogs can have pups if mated close together from different sires, could be similar thing. You men are worse than women fretting when it comes to dogs n ferrets lol

give her a little bit of cat milk to help with her calcium levels

Yh your right normally I have a little bit of a cavalier attitude towards everything life throws at me but when it comes to my animals it's a different story I suppose we all need somthing to fret over ;-) she is being well looked after even my missus is chipping in going out an checking on them every few hours while I'm away at work ;-) I hope she is ok dnt fancy a vet bill can't believe how much they charge for a vasectomy of a hob it's the same as a dog like £70 or£80 god knows what they will charge for a real problem

i live near warrington n liverpool two wanted 280 to snip my hob. Went to better vets though and they charged 55 best thing i did, my kits were eating me out of house and home lol. My jill belle ended up with 10 quiet large kits but she must of eaten 4 the neighbour wouldntleave the cage alone after me telling her to keep her fingers out. Had it covered as well Daft cow! She had a 3 of each after a few weeks introduced them to the hobb, very interesting behaviour from him. He rounded them up cleaning them then curled round them was nice to watch them grow up, ended up keeping 2 back
