Guest whitser
i had a wheaten cross on trial a few weeks back. i gave him back to my mate. i found him a little heavy footed to be a good rabbit lurcher. as i dont want to take foxes on the lamp, leave them for the hounds and terriers, he didn't really suit me. has any one found the first cross a little lacking after bunnies? i bought a whippet x grayhound and she's perfect for the ground i lamp, will post pics asap. Guest hunterside
Hi all, hopefully come november i should have a litter of wheaten/whippet greyhounds and ive bred this way puposely for harder game. This is only my opinion but i think a first cross wheaten/greyhound its a bit of an overkill on rabbits. As for my whippet/grey shes perfect for rabbits thats on the lamp and perfectly bidable as a ferreting dog.Like SHOT said wheaten crosses are not really a rabbiters dog,no doubt someone out there will have a wheaten x that picks up rabbits.thanks hunterside Quote Link to post
jonathan 0
1 cross bedligton would be better for rabbits and will take foxes Quote Link to post
mattyg 1,862
i have a wheten/greyxwhipp/grey, 22 1/2 tts and plenty racy enough for the bunnies but has one hell of a likeing for the sharp end. but i do agree that a straight whetenx isnt really for the rabbiting man and that the beddy/grey would be ideal for most things!
