Tozer 385 Posted April 28, 2014 Report Share Posted April 28, 2014 I get the idea of getting her to bush and the signs are good. But I was wondering how far people get training them to retrieve? I know that if I wanted a dog that would retrieve I should have got a spaniel and I don't expect gundog obedience. She is 15 weeks old, I can send her blind short distances now to fetch things and she retrieves well, but drops it a couple of yards short. I tried to get her to bring it to hand, but she almost stopped and I had to go back to the beginning. I also took her out with the air rifle to get some scents and confidence. I've sent her for a couple of easy ones, fine at first, now on real game she just goes deaf rags it and plays with it, amusing but not what I am after Which is my next question, does anyone have any helpful tips on recall training also?
