Need Help With My Scope - A Bit Of Help Required.

Recommended Posts

So as the title says needing a bit of help explaining my scope. Having a bit if a brain fart moment and not used to shooting at close ranges . So this morning I was out taking care of some of the bunny population. I have my rifle zero'd at roughly 35 yards I double checked this and it was fine and even bagged a few in the hour I was out. This afternoon I got a call asking me to come shoot a couple of rats, distance was going to be from approx 15 yards to 18 yards nothing special but since im not used to these short ranges I thought id set out some targets and see where my pellets would be landing. To my surprise 15 yards was bang on the cross hair and the 18-20 yards was 1 mil dot hold under. Is this normal at these ranges etc. Sorry if this sounds a ridiculous question but I would appreciate anyones input. Thanks

Hi mate

Sounds pretty normal but it depends on caliber, power, scope height etc. The most simple way to see this is to download Chairgun pro or BRC from the Hawk scopes website and look at it on a graph, as your pellet flies in an arc. They also have a very good app for your phone.

Hi Andy

As Silentshot mentioned the pallet will cross the line of sight (crosshairs) twice once at a close range and at the distance you have zeroed at due to the trajectory curve (unless you have zeroed at maximum height of the curve) but you will always have two points that will be the same on your aim point. One will be on the way up (close) and one on the way down (distance) I know there is a post (i think on the technical section) that shows this really well. If I can find it I will put in my next post.

Chairgun pro which is free download shows this really well on the graph after you have put the information in.
