What brought it to light is my sia licence is up for renewal. This enables me to work in the security industries ie: security guard,CCTV operator,door supervisor depending on what course you opt for. once your training is done and you have the right credentials, you apply for your licence from the security industry authority. these guys took over from local authority's/council about ten years ago. Said licence used to be around £50 for five years under council rule, The sia charge £220 for a three year licence,and £220 for a renewal. Apparently this is as cheap they can do the policing of the licenses,ie background checks ,crb checks ect. Now my question is, if that's true how is it possible to get a shotgun licence for £50 for five years? Surely there are more stringent checks for owning a firearm,yet there able to do it at a 1/5 of the cost. My conclusion is the s.i.a are an absolute rip off. Well that's my thoughts anyway.
