jcm 2,327
Went for a shine lastnight decided to go down the road with my pal gavey dog a few slips and he just couldn't catch them, was frustrating as this season he hasn't missed much at all and last night he was getting to them and turning them giving a decent run but couldnt pick any up so gave my mate's dog a few slips he missed a couple and picked two up in one feild into the next then another in the next feild and by this point we knew that the only way we were going to catch any was by giveing stupidly long slips anyway I spied a rabbit at the far end of the feild best part of 200 yards away and was starting to move so I though feck it and sloped diesel he got to it put a few turns in and bang his first for the night. The fields had electrical fencing all over and to get to the next feild I had to go under the electric fence and over the wodden one with not much room, my pal couldn't get over so I was looking for a spot for him to get over when he says there is one at the bottom of the feild so I flicked on the lamp and there one was about 120 yards so yet again desperate for another rabbit I sliped diesel and same again got to it put a few turns in it and bang another for the bag. Finaly my pal got into the next feild and we carried on seen a few more rabbits but they were hedge huggers and as soon as the light hit them they were gone. Last field my pal gave a massive slip on a rabbit heading for home couldn't even see the dog at the end of the beam and I was useing a blitz anyway the dog want out of the beam and we seen his eyes comeing back towards us after a few seconds so I scaned the field and seen a rabbit get up so I sliped diesel he turned it back towards us Abit then caught it with a nice ratrive live to hand. So I dispatched the rabbit and walked to myate to put it in the bag give the lamp a flick on to see where his dog was and to our amazment a nice big healthy rabbit hanging out of the dogs mouth he must of caught it out of the beam and retrived it back about 300 yards. Finaly result 7 rabbits but they were hard work that's for sure 1 Quote Link to post
