Cheers Dan Hi Dan, with the greatest of respect so please dont be offended, you are not in a good position to have any bird of prey at the moment. You've already stated you know very little about bop and this doesnt bode well for the future of you and a bird or give a breeder a great deal of confidence in you or a desire to sell you something he's hopefully bred with dedication. Owls are not that exciting as hunters and are not actually as easy as you may think. You could really do with getting some first hand experience and handling and read everything you can find on the subject and a mentor would be a massive help to you. You need to learn about housing one in detail, locate the nearest avian vet as a 'dog doctor' wont be a great deal of help when you walk in with an owl sort out a food supplier, some suppliments for its food, buy or preferably make your own anklets, jesses etc, strong leashes, a perch for it to sit on, a bath, possibly insure it, buy telemetry so you can safely fly it free.... and thats assuming you've already secured land to fly it on. Owls are stinky too lol and can poo for britain! You need to be experienced and extremely dedicated to get them to hunt, saying that its not impossible but there's other birds of prey that'd be far keener to hunt with you. I have a European eagle owl and he's 4lb 10 and a lump of a bird and an Indian eagle owl who's 2lb 5. Hope this is a little help to you, Kat Quote Link to post
