Foxhole 22
So for the first time in many years i have warmed to a Hob polecat that was found and has been showed to me. The guy got it from his mum who found it wondering around, It's been vasectomised and is just the best handled ferret stray i have come across .He was a nasty git when picked up but the guy handled him much and it’s definitely almost but gone. I have 3 gills so he would compliment them being jaffered too although i know he has been on his own for a year so i will have to keep an eye on him for a bit with others Hunting as yet has to be found out but i said i would give it 3 days before i decide to have him. The question is that without it being a very expensive procedure can i find out how old a ferret is? It's a new area for me.. Quote Link to post
Huan72 687
Telling the age of any animal can be tricky and the easiest method is to check their teeth. Obviously the condition over time will depend on their diet but as a rough guide it works, just as it does with dogs. If they are pearly white they are young, if slightly discoloured a bit older and so on. Remember its not an exact science but as a guide, this method has stood the test of time 1 Quote Link to post
onthehunt 40
I agree the teeth. Check whether they are discoloured or transparent. the extent to which they are either or both of the two on different parts of the canines should give you a very rough estimate. its helped me age my jill I got in August.
