What a tw*t

Recommended Posts

Our Wire Vizsla was on a walked up grouse shoot at the week-end, there was a bunch of Germans who had paid top whack to shoot and were a bit over keen..the dogs had just been unloaded from the Landrover when a Grouse went up, this arse took aim and fired right over our dog's head..he missed the bird and the dog was a quivering wreck..she spent the rest of the day clamped to the handlers side..i am so pissed off..all these years of training etc and she has never, ever reacted negatviely to the gun, i hope to God she can get over this. :( She has been out again today and was still a bit nervy, but has so far, apparently managed several points and retrieves.

I'm hoping that one bad experience wont make her gun shy..her handler said she was more gun nervous just now, but only time would tell, she thinks that saturation will help improve her. She is a totally sound bitch who works very well, she is very focused and good at what she does, it would be such a shame if she cannot do the 'whole' job. :(

:o Whether is was a walked up shoot or driven day the keeper or man in charge should have marched that c**t off the moor. Shows a scarey lack of restraint and common sense that you need when guns are involved. Hope your dog gets back in the saddle soon and is ok.

She's on another walked up shoot tomorrow with her handler, she is very experienced and will not push her in any way, just allow her to calm down and get used to the guns again. There seems to be all sorts of thought behind what is the best way to deal with this situation, one guy with a Lab suggested to the Handler that she do with the Wire what he did with his Lab in the same situation..took the dog to a pigeon hide and shot all day..but the dog was tied down..if you did this with a Wire they would just about end themselves. Her handler has over 20y of experience and we have a lot of faith in her..so hopefully she can help Kali overcome this. The guy that shot, incidentally wasnt asked to leave..not helped by the fact he barely talked any English, but i believe he was 'warned' not much bloody good to be honest if its ruined the dog that we have put years of work into.
