unlacedgecko 1,467
Commercial laying hens will be culled after 1 season of laying, as their flock productivity drops beneath that which is economical to feed. 'Pet' hens may well continue to lay into their 4th or even 5th season. The number of eggs will decrease but the size of them will increase. I hav no experience of game birds. burnie69 376
I've a 9 year old hen what has produced 23 youngsters this year and shes still laying. if shes a good producing hen hang on to her until you've replaced her with something as good or better. You've heard the saying there like hens teeth to find.
